Over at LIFE, our pal Ben Cosgrove put together an image gallery of people pointing at things. Why is that interesting, you ask? Just start clicking through the pictures and you will slowly be confounded by the surreality of the act. Looking at these photos is like a visual form of semantic satiation, the mindfuck you get when repeating a word in isolation causes it to seem weirdly meaningless. "People Pointing at Stuff"

I'm at the season opener for #OTB ( awesome, BTW), and they have finally acknowledged the full impact of their early-2000's "Anthony and the Johnson's" show on their core subscribers: like crashing a small plane into the audience.... I was sitting three rows up from the propeller that show and felt flayed at 120 miles/hour. Couldn't edit to bail out. But definitely gonna fly romeo this time.

Anyway, I read Dawkins this summer and found my favorite book to be The Extended Phenotype, mainly because the ideas in it connect with (directly or indirectly) the current and exciting ideas of Luis P. Villarreal's virology and Kevin Laland's positions on niche construction. The other top books are The Selfish Gene and The Ancestors Tale.

Found this sign detailing "Rules Governing Behavior on US Postal Property" on the door of the downtown Post Office in Seattle.
